These lightweight comforters are stitched with love. You get warmth, temperature regulation and breathability in this signature handmade product.
Warm & Dreamy
Our comforters are nearly magical in their comfort, warmth and coziness. They are affordable and comparable in terms of warmth and weight to a high-quality down comforter.
Choose a comforter that suits your body temperature and the region you live in: Cool Comfort, Perfect Comfort or Extra Warmth, as described below in “Choose A Temperature Weight”.
Most people choose the Perfect Comfort unless they live in a very hot or cold climate, or if their body tends to run very hot or very cold.
All of our wool comforters are soft, known to be lightweight and very cozy. We hand make each one using organic cotton Sateen fabric. The inside is filled with Premium Eco-Wool™ sourced from our Sustainable Wool Program using west coast U.S.A. wool. Hand stitching the entire perimeter and tufting the middle keeps the wool in place and enables washing.

How to Choose
To choose the proper temperature weight in a comforter, consider the following:
- What is your typical body temperature?
- Do you find yourself to be generally cold or mostly hot?
- Do you tend to get cold at night or overheat?
- If you sleep with another person you will generate more heat than you would by yourself.
- Assess the bedding you already have at home. Do you want to rely on your comforter by itself to keep you warm or will you be using it in combination with other blankets?
We offer 3 temperature weights in comforters:
Cool Comfort - Best suited for: a person who tends to run warm or hot in body temperature, a hot climate such as Florida or Southern California, or to be used in climates with mild winters where you can use this comforter in combination with other favorite blankets.
Perfect Comfort - Most people choose this comforter weight. This weight is fine for partner sleeping, can be used year round in most climates and is a great all-purpose comforter weight. You may want to add an extra blanket in the heart of winter if needed.
Extra Warmth - This temperature weight is best suited for those who tend to run cold or get chilled easily. Great for people who sleep by themselves and tend to like a lot of covers.
- If you have additional people in the bed it creates a warmer environment.
- The location where you live, the direction your bedroom faces and the temperature you keep your room at night are all factors to consider.
- You know yourself best, if you are leaning towards one more than the other, then go for the one you’re most drawn to.
- If you are undecided, we recommend choosing the lighter weight. You can always add additional blankets, whereas a comforter that is too hot is more challenging to correct.
A sample kit may help. Our Comforter Sample Kit available for $10.00, which may help you make a decision on which comforter is right for you. If you end up ordering a comforter, the cost of the sample is subtracted from your order resulting in a free sample.
We’ve stitched up samples of all three comforter weights so you can touch, see and feel the thickness of each type. You’ll get a general idea of the weight and warmth by holding the samples.
We also have wool mattress topper samples as well. Another option is to find a store in your area that carries the Holy Lamb Organics line of Wool Comforters.
Order a Sample
We have samples of a variety of our products. This will allow you to touch and feel the quality of our products before purchasing, assess the right temperature weights and thickness as well as test for sensitivities. We sell them at cost, and the larger samples can be returned for credit towards your purchase.Click here to order a sample.
Natural wool is a timeless option for bedding. It’s actually been used for centuries. Our grandmothers knew the many benefits that wool provides, now you do too.
Why Is Wool Bedding So Great?
Wool is the most breathable filling material available, making it both cool in the summer and warm in the winter. It actually helps to regulate your body temperature.
Wool is a natural material; something grown, not made in a lab. Your body knows the difference. Wool surpasses synthetic fill in terms of quality and durability.
Dust Mite Resistant
Wool is a great choice if dust mites bug you or if you’re allergic. Dust mites can't live in wool due to microscopic bristles on the wool fibers.
Anti-Microbial & Anti-Bacterial
Amazingly, wool resists bacteria. It’s actually both antimicrobial and antibacterial.
Naturally Fire Resistant
Wool is fire resistant, providing a safe sleeping environment. Wool does not catch on fire and actually acts as a natural fire retardant.
A Renewable Resource, From Sheep
Unlike bedding that uses plucked down feathers, a sheep grows a coat of wool annually and is not harmed during shearing (it’s like getting a haircut).
Supports Small Farms And Farmers
Wool is a sustainable product and helps small farmers make a living.
Sustainable And Lasting
With proper care, your woollen bedding can last for decades.
It Stays In Place In Your Bedding
Wool batting, being one continuous piece, stays in place in our products and is hand-tufted to further secure it. This is unlike down bedding which shifts over time and creates bare spots in a comforter.
Certifications & Testing
Green America - Gold Certified Business since 2007
Green America is a national, non-profit founded in 1982. (They went by the name "Co-op America" until 2009). America's Green Business Certification ensures companies operate according to a “values-based” social enterprise according to principles of social justice and environmental sustainability. In addition, certified businesses must be environmentally responsible in the way they run their operations and facilities, and in how they source raw materials, manufacture products, and market them. The Gold certification is completed by the Green America Standards Committee through an independent review.
Holy Lamb Organics holds the Gold Certification
The IOAS is a non-profit certification organization dedicated to the integrity of eco label claims in the field of organic and sustainable agriculture, environmental management, social justice and fair trade.
They work internationally to assess the competence of organizations providing certification to "sustainability" standards, meaning producers can work in a fair environment and consumers can trust the products bearing these labels and the company's contribution to a more sustainable and fairer world.
IAOS's role is as an independent technical expert. It verifies correct application of the standard and the requirements for certification.
All COTTON used at Holy Lamb Organics is IOAS certified.
Eco Wool is produced to the highest standards on local American farms; some of these standards are beyond those specified for organic materials. Eco Wool is not certified organic. At this time very little organic wool is available on the market; almost no organic wool is grown in the United States.
We have access to organic wool from New Zealand that is pure and clean, though due to it being only one type of wool, it doesn’t offer the kind of resilience or bounce that our Premium Eco Wool™ does. Our Eco Wool is a blend of about 7 different types of wool varying from fine to coarse in order to create the most ideal wool fiber for use in bedding.
Our WOOL is Premium Eco-Wool™ .

Raw materials holding FSC certification:
UC Davis Toxicology Lab Tested
All of the wool we use in manufacturing is tested for heavy metals through fiber sample analysis.
The official report indicates: "No toxic compounds were detected....Growers and ranchers raise sheep relative to organic standards (do not use herbicides, pesticides or growth hormones)."
Element Materials Technology Tested
All of our raw materials at Holy Lamb Organics are required by law to pass a specific Phthalates test (Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act CPSIA of 2008). The tests are regularly conducted by this agency.
All of our toppers and mattresses are also required to meet the cigarette burn test 1633. Our verification is printed on all of our sewn-in product labels: "This Product Complies with the Federal Flammability Standard 16 CFR part 1632".
We highly recommend placing our comforters inside a duvet cover to protect it from everyday wear.
FOR ALL OUR PRODUCTS:
Unmake Your Bed
One of the best things you can do is unmake your bed in the morning for a few hours, allowing the moisture you gave off during the night to evaporate from the wool bedding.
Sunning Your Bedding
Placing your wool bedding in the sun a few times per year is an excellent way to refresh and cleanse your bedding using the benefits of the sun. Sunning will naturally deodorize, bleach, disinfect, and revitalize your bedding.
Protection Is Key
Protect your wool bedding by placing it inside an appropriate cotton cover that can be washed regularly and act as a barrier for your bedding during everyday use.
- Place a comforter inside a duvet cover
- Put your pillow inside a zippered pillow cover and then into a pillow case
- For mattress toppers, use a moisture barrier and then a fitted sheet
Do I need to wash my bedding before I use it?
No, your wool bedding is ready to use. There’s no need to wash it unless it’s your preference. There are no chemicals located in our production facility, no animals on-site, no finishes used on the fabric and we maintain a Scent Free facility.
Can my bedding be washed & how?
Most of our wool bedding can be washed using our special washing instructions provided with your purchase. If you need a copy of the washing instructions please Contact Us and we’ll email it to you as soon as possible.
In case of emergency:
- Gently spot clean the affected area.
- Set aside to later wash the entire product once you have received the washing instructions.
- You can also treat the problem area with live cultured enzymes which eliminate odors. (i.e. Biokleen makes a product called Bac Out.) These enzyme products can be found at your local health food store/ co-op.
- If you need another copy of the washing instructions, please contact us.
Can I take it to a dry cleaner?
We do not recommend dry cleaning unless it is taken to a certified "green" dry cleaner. Regular dry cleaners use chemicals to clean, defeating the purpose of having a natural bedding product.
"My husband and I both love our medium wool (Perfect Comfort) comforter. I don't think I've loved a blanket so much since my childhood "baby blanket"! Thank You."
Cave Junction, OR
“I LOVE my wool comforter. I call it Lamby, and it's the best thing I've ever purchased!”
"I ordered a wool comforter from you for my parents recently. They received it and have reported that it works great for both of them. They are both comfortable under the comforter without any extra blankets. My mom said, “Who would have thought it would take our kids to make us compatible in bed!?!!” Thanks for your help in selecting the right weight and for making a nice comforter for them."
"I'm very happy with the wool comforter, I really treated myself. You offered it at a good price. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from you again, should I need something else."
“Pure luxury. I actually was sad to have to put a duvet over that beautiful comforter...but my fuzzy cats are drawn to it like a magnet. I couldn't be happier with my pillows and comforter. The quality is awesome, and the price reasonable. There are so many health and environmental benefits of wool...and these make going to bed pure luxury. Thanks so much."
"I have been a restless sleeper in my later years and always running hot or cold. Since I bought my Holy Lamb Organic Comforter, filled with lambs' wool, I do not constantly have to throw the covers off and on. My skin can breathe. I feel contented and deeply peaceful. It's soothing warmth seeps into my bones. It is so lightweight. Even in the morning with the sun shining on me, I am perfectly comfortable and cozy."
Santa Barbara, CA
"Sleeping under my Holy Lamb Organics comforter makes all my nights sleep pleasant. I have the medium weight comforter which I take off during the summer months. I look forward to sleeping under it again in the fall. From early fall till late spring it provides all the warmth we need. It fits perfectly into the duvet cover and lays completely flat, leaving the bed nice and smooth. The workmanship is high quality and easy to clean. I am now saving up so that I can have an organic duvet cover as well as the sheets. Thanks Holy Lamb Organics for providing us with warmth & comfort...and most importantly, with safe organic bedding!"
"Your Holy Lamb Organics bedding has truly changed the way that I sleep. My comforter is nice and balanced and keeps me comfortable and snuggly during all seasons. In the summer, I use only my comforter as a top layer and during the winter I use both a sheet and my comforter. I have found the bedding to be very soft and easy to clean. I have never regretted pampering myself and would purchase all of my bedding through Holy Lamb Organics in the future. I truly feel luxurious each time that I go to sleep and wake up feeling comfortable and rested in the morning."
-Marsha A.,Certified Permaculture Consultant, Owner of Queen Bee Flower & Gem Essences
"Our story has to do with a dry cleaner who ruined our previous Australian virgin wool felt comforter. After many attempts to find an equal product , I came across your website. Thank God. The old comforter was warm to sleep under, but at this time I wish to say that your comforter NOT ONLY MEETS, BUT EXCEEDS the quality and comfort of our previous comforter. THANK YOU!"
-James M. Delmar,
“Yummy wool comforter - the filling doesn't shift around like down, not too hot, not too cold.”
“We are very happy with our cool comfort duvet. It is exactly what we had hoped for!”
Mt. Pleasant, MI
“Your product and customer service exceeded my expectations. I am sure it is a much better quality comforter for about a third less than I would have had to pay elsewhere. Thanks again. My husband and I really LOVE our comforter!!! The pillows are great too!"
“The quality material, softness, easy care, versatility, and knowing our bedding is wrapping us in all natural, organic materials.”
“I received the Standard weight Holy Lamb Wool Comforter as a birthday present from my mother and totally love it. My comforter gives me a very settled feeling when I'm in bed. I replaced an old down comforter with the Holy Lamb wool comforter and everything just seems somehow more quiet, more peaceful and settled feeling. Much less congestion in the morning now too!”
“Yes, yes we love our comforter, it is warmer than others and so awesomely organic, it feels so much better, and is like a cloud, and the cover too, it is great right down to the buttons, and we dyed it with our dark red corn husks, and we couldn't be happier with the outcome of the all organic purple comforter, and I could go on about our natural grown cotton towel set too, excellent, thanks for the organic goodness.”
“I bought an organic wool comforter and the difference between it and an old store bought one from years ago is unbelievable. The weight is so much heavier and it looks so much smoother in our duvet cover.”
Sun Valley, CA
“Without a doubt....your comforters will be regularly purchased and given as very special gifts to very special family and friends. Thank you!”
Deep River, CT
“I have the perfect weight comforter and it is usually just right. I have been extremely satisfied with my purchases and sleep much better thanks to your products.”
“I am happy with the two wool comforters I purchased. Am considering purchase of a 3rd. I'm glad I found you.”
Great Neck, NY
"We just put the comforters on our old but better-now beds. They are the best quality items I have ever purchased. Just wanted to let you know. And when I can get more products from you I will. For now I will be recommending your company to many people."
“We got a mid-weight comforter for our 10 year old son. HE LOVES IT! It replaced 6 organic cotton blankets - can you imagine. My son said, "MOM, I CAN MOVE MY LEGS!", he said, "I DIDN'T KNOW YOU COULD MOVE IN BED". Can you imagine how I felt - I had no idea, but I am so happy that my son is warm and is free as a bird. We all go new pillows with the small bits of wool. WE ALL LOVE THEM!!! Once again, my son said, "MOM, I didn't know that I could sleep so comfortably". He was sleeping on a flat wool, hard pillow and I neglected to realize that you need to upsize the pillow as the children grow. He has better alignment of his body and his neck. I think it is helping his breathing and overall quality of sleep."
“Very good deal on bulk purchase that they accommodated and I really appreciate it, very high quality, passion for their business! Also detailed description and origin of the items, nothing hidden from the customer, amazing customer service and FAST delivery!!!!! Quality, organics, manufacturing, feel and purity! Packaging is awesome! Yes it is perfect!!!!! We live in Southern California and it is perfect for the winter as well! It can really get cold here even before the summer kicks in, up until June sometimes. So soft and warm, and natural! Just like my favorite blankie from my childhood. I am really happy I got it before Christmas - the best gift ever! You are the best out there and I did lots lots of research to say it. You really allow people to live truly green and organic, and afford it without any catches and hidden info. Thank you so so much.”
North Hollywood, CA

"Very, very happy. We love that the comforter we purchased was hand-made of eco wool and organic cotton by a company that values sustainability and worker's well-being."
“Yes! I got a king size All Season comforter from you, and it’s working out GREAT! It’s so warm, we don’t have to have the heat on at all at night to stay cozy, even in January! We’ve had a power outage the past few days, and the only time I'm really warm is in bed.”
"I can't even begin to describe how happy I am!!!!! I bought just about everything on your website and I am thrilled. The craftsmanship of the products is phenomenal, as was the customer service. My quality of sleep has been greatly improved. I feel like royalty! I also love how quickly the bed warms up when I crawl in. Within seconds of crawling under the covers, the bed feels warm! I also sleep well knowing that because of my bedding choices I am not polluting myself or the environment with chemicals."
Toronto, Ontario, Canada
“I love our wool comforters and pillows! My husband is always cold in the winter and wants a pile of blankets on and I get way too warm. We are using them in our home in Nevada City, CA and it was 28 degrees last night and we were both comfortable under our wool comforter! The pillows are also a delight.”
Woodland Hills, CA
"We’ve been sleeping with our Holy Lamb comforter for a couple of years and we love love love it. It’s not only incredibly comfy, but probably one of the most ethically sound purchases I’ve ever made as well, and that brings a rare kind of enjoyment that I treasure.
