Warm & Dreamy
Our comforters are nearly magical in their comfort, warmth and coziness. They are affordable and comparable in terms of warmth and weight to a high-quality down comforter.
Choose a comforter that suits your body temperature and the region you live in: Cool Comfort, Perfect Comfort or Extra Warmth, as described below in “Choose A Temperature Weight”.
Most people choose the Perfect Comfort unless they live in a very hot or cold climate, or if their body tends to run very hot or very cold.
All of our wool comforters are soft, known to be lightweight and very cozy. We hand make each one using organic cotton Sateen fabric. The inside is filled with Premium Eco-Wool™ sourced from our Sustainable Wool Program using west coast U.S.A. wool. Hand stitching the entire perimeter and tufting the middle keeps the wool stays in place and enables washing.

Definitions of Wool Types:
For the specific wool type that this topper uses please refer to "Product Overview".
Premium Eco-Wool© (PEW) - Our famous blend sourced directly from about 20 family farms in Oregon & California, USA. It’s the nicest wool we have ever seen- incredibly clean, dust free and virtually vegetable matter free. Growers participate in our Sustainable Wool Program, managing their flocks in a humane, chemical-free, and environmentally thoughtful manner. The vast majority of our products are built with this wool.
Organic Wool - When we cannot find a wool product in the PEW© blend we source 100% organic wool. This is used in our Woolley "Down" Pillows, Moisture Barrier and Puddle Pad products. It’s grown in Australia, then milled in the USA.
Eco Wool© - A blend of wool still from our Sustainable Wool Program, but sourced from a different wool pool than the PEW©. We are able to obtain it at a lower price point which we pass onto you in savings. So, in a nutshell, the quality of the Eco-Wool© is slightly less than our top of the line PEW© blend and allows us to pass a savings on to you, our customers.
America's Wool - A blend of wool still from our Sustainable Wool Program, but again it is sourced from a different wool pool than than the PEW©. Quality is slightly less than our Eco-Wool©.
World Class Wool - We brought in 1 roll of this to see what it was like. Though it’s not part of the Sustainable Wool Program, it does not have any chemicals, nor were pesticides & herbicides weren’t used for the pastured sheep. This wool is from family farms in South America, Australia, New Zealand and Europe. Clean and dust-free, this is what most of the wool bedding industry uses. Less expensive so sold at a greater discount. Limited quantity.

How to Choose
To choose the proper temperature weight in a comforter, consider the following:
- What is your typical body temperature?
- Do you find yourself to be generally cold or mostly hot?
- Do you tend to get cold at night or overheat?
- If you sleep with another person you will generate more heat than you would by yourself.
- Assess the bedding you already have at home. Do you want to rely on your comforter by itself to keep you warm or will you be using it in combination with other blankets?
We offer 3 temperature weights in comforters:
Cool Comfort - Best suited for: a person who tends to run warm or hot in body temperature, a hot climate such as Florida or Southern California, or to be used in climates with mild winters where you can use this comforter in combination with other favorite blankets.
Perfect Comfort - Most people choose this comforter weight. This weight is fine for partner sleeping, can be used year round in most climates and is a great all-purpose comforter weight. You may want to add an extra blanket in the heart of winter if needed.
Extra Warmth - This temperature weight is best suited for those who tend to run cold or get chilled easily. Great for people who sleep by themselves and tend to like a lot of covers.
- If you have additional people in the bed it creates a warmer environment.
- The location where you live, the direction your bedroom faces and the temperature you keep your room at night are all factors to consider.
- You know yourself best, if you are leaning towards one more than the other, then go for the one you’re most drawn to.
- If you are undecided, we recommend choosing the lighter weight. You can always add additional blankets, whereas a comforter that is too hot is more challenging to correct.
A sample kit may help. Our Comforter Sample Kit available for $10.00, which may help you make a decision on which comforter is right for you. If you end up ordering a comforter, the cost of the sample is subtracted from your order resulting in a free sample.
We’ve stitched up samples of all three comforter weights so you can touch, see and feel the thickness of each type. You’ll get a general idea of the weight and warmth by holding the samples.
We also have wool mattress topper samples as well. Another option is to find a store in your area that carries the Holy Lamb Organics line of Wool Comforters.

Natural wool is a timeless option for bedding. It’s actually been used for centuries. Our grandmothers knew the many benefits that wool provides, now you do too.
Why Is Wool Bedding So Great?
Wool is the most breathable filling material available, making it both cool in the summer and warm in the winter. It actually helps to regulate your body temperature.
Wool is a natural material; something grown, not made in a lab. Your body knows the difference. Wool surpasses synthetic fill in terms of quality and durability.
Dust Mite Resistant
Wool is a great choice if dust mites bug you or if you’re allergic. Dust mites can't live in wool due to microscopic bristles on the wool fibers.
Anti-Microbial & Anti-Bacterial
Amazingly, wool resists bacteria. It’s actually both antimicrobial and antibacterial.
Naturally Fire Resistant
Wool is fire resistant, providing a safe sleeping environment. Wool does not catch on fire and actually acts as a natural fire retardant.
A Renewable Resource, From Sheep
Unlike bedding that uses plucked down feathers, a sheep grows a coat of wool annually and is not harmed during shearing (it’s like getting a haircut).
Supports Small Farms And Farmers
Wool is a sustainable product and helps small farmers make a living.
Sustainable And Lasting
With proper care, your woollen bedding can last for decades.
It Stays In Place In Your Bedding
Wool batting, being one continuous piece, stays in place in our products and is hand-tufted to further secure it. This is unlike down bedding which shifts over time and creates bare spots in a comforter.
Certifications & Testing
Green America - Gold Certified Business since 2007
Green America is a national, non-profit founded in 1982. (They went by the name "Co-op America" until 2009). America's Green Business Certification ensures companies operate according to a “values-based” social enterprise according to principles of social justice and environmental sustainability. In addition, certified businesses must be environmentally responsible in the way they run their operations and facilities, and in how they source raw materials, manufacture products, and market them. The Gold certification is completed by the Green America Standards Committee through an independent review.
Holy Lamb Organics holds the Gold Certification
The IOAS is a non-profit certification organization dedicated to the integrity of eco label claims in the field of organic and sustainable agriculture, environmental management, social justice and fair trade.
They work internationally to assess the competence of organizations providing certification to "sustainability" standards, meaning producers can work in a fair environment and consumers can trust the products bearing these labels and the company's contribution to a more sustainable and fairer world.
IAOS's role is as an independent technical expert. It verifies correct application of the standard and the requirements for certification.
All COTTON used at Holy Lamb Organics is IOAS certified.
Eco Wool is produced to the highest standards on local American farms; some of these standards are beyond those specified for organic materials. Eco Wool is not certified organic. At this time very little organic wool is available on the market; almost no organic wool is grown in the United States.
We have access to organic wool from New Zealand that is pure and clean, though due to it being only one type of wool, it doesn’t offer the kind of resilience or bounce that our Premium Eco Wool™ does. Our Eco Wool is a blend of about 7 different types of wool varying from fine to coarse in order to create the most ideal wool fiber for use in bedding.
Our WOOL is Premium Eco-Wool™ .
